    • Liquid and solid fuel fires, including campfires and solid fuel BBQs, are strictly prohibited year-round.

    • Total Fire Ban Days: Additional restrictions apply. Only approved gas appliances designed for meal preparation may be used, provided they comply with the total fire ban guidelines.

Stay informed about fire danger ratings and restrictions by monitoring the VicEmergency app or tuning into ABC Radio 774.

  • What is the Fire Danger Rating?

The Fire Danger Rating (FDR) indicates how dangerous a fire would be if one started. It helps communities and emergency services prepare for and respond to fire risks.

    Fire Danger Ratings:

    • Moderate – Plan and prepare.

    • High – Be ready to act.

    • Extreme – Take action now to protect life and property.

    • CatastrophicLeave bushfire risk areas well before danger arrives. Fires will be fast-moving, uncontrollable, and deadly. If a fire starts, survival is unlikely.

The higher the rating, the more dangerous the conditions. Jan Juc Caravan Park closes on Catastrophic Fire Danger Days, and guests must self-evacuate for safety.

  • A Total Fire Ban (TFB) day means that no fires are allowed in the open air due to extreme fire danger conditions. The risk of a fire starting and spreading rapidly is very high.

On a Total Fire Ban day:

    • All solid and liquid fuel fires are prohibited, including wood-fired BBQs, campfires, and open flames

    • Gas and electric BBQs may only be used under strict conditions, including:

      • The BBQ must be in a stable, enclosed area designed for cooking

      • A 3-metre clearance around the BBQ must be free of flammable materials

      • A water source (hose or at least 10 litres of water) must be immediately available

      • An adult must be present at all times while the BBQ is in use

    • No open-air burning, campfires, or incinerators can be used

    • Welding, grinding, and other spark-producing tools are restricted unless operated under strict fire safety conditions

Check the official CFA guide on what you can and can't do on a Total Fire Ban day: CFA – Can I or Can't I?

  • Jan Juc Caravan Park is located in a Bushfire Overlay Area, meaning fire danger ratings must be closely monitored. The CFA Fire Danger Ratings are:

    • Moderate: Plan and prepare.

    • High: Be ready to act.

    • Extreme: Take action now to protect life and property.

    • Catastrophic: For your survival, leave bushfire risk areas. If a fire starts and takes hold, lives are likely to be lost. These are the most dangerous conditions for a fire.

    On Catastrophic Fire Danger Days:

    • The park will be closed for safety.

    • Guests must self-evacuate as early as possible before or on the day of declared catastrophic fire danger.

    • Limited staff will be available, and emergency services may be unable to assist.

    • Notices will be posted at the entrance to the park.

    • An announcement will be made over the PA system informing all guests of evacuation procedures.

    • Signage will be placed at the entrance, stating:
"Park Closed Due to Catastrophic Fire Danger - For your survival, leave bushfire risk areas."
